People have been telling me for years I should write a book. I guess this is my way of doing it. This is a "heres what I did, this is where I've been, these are the folks I met" site. Its kind of a journey through small market radio over the last 30 years. What it was like to play in the minor leagues. I made some good friends along the way. You'll meet a few of them here.
I've collected literally thousands of tapes over the years of disc jockeys in the different markets I've worked. In the Jocks and Stations section, you'll hear some of them. The people here all share a common bond; a passion for "this thing of ours". Back then, desire, drive, and determination were almost more important than talent. That explains why guys like me were able to hang around for so long.
And hey, if you are someone I worked with or work at a station where I stopped along the way, feel free to send any audio or pics you might have around.
“The radio business is a cruel and shallow money trench, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There’s also a negative side.” Hunter S. Thompson
